Our 10 Days Rwanda &Uganda Gorilla – Cycling safari – takes you through undulating hills and amazing landscape, gentle slopes marked with a lush green cover, and a range of spectacular lakes like Lake Kivu, Lake Mutanda and Lake Bunyonyi, Gorilla and Golden monkey trekking In the rain forests of Mgahinga and Bwindi impenetrable National park – with impressive local communities and villages. This 10 Days Rwanda – Uganda Gorilla and cycling safari starts from Entebbe Uganda and ends in Kigali Rwanda.
Safari Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 –Arrival at Entebbe International Airport
Today, upon arrival at Entebbe International airport, you will be met by a Great Adventure Safaris representative who will transfer you to the Guest House in Entebbe and overnight at Airport Link Guest House.
Day2 – Transfer to Buhoma Region – Bwindi impenetrable National park.
Today after breakfast, you will meet with your guide again and start your 8-9 hours’ drive to the northern part of Bwindi impenetrable National park in southwestern Uganda. You will have en-route stops at the Equator for photography and lunch stop in Mbarara town then continue to Buhoma arriving in the late evening, check-in at the lodge, dinner, and overnight at Ride 4 a woman
Day 3, Gorilla trekking in Buhoma Region
After breakfast, you will meet your driver-guide and transfer to the park headquarters for a short briefing about the dos and don’ts when you meet mountain gorillas in the natural habitat. You will be assigned the gorilla family to trek and start the walk into the dense rain forest to look for the Gorillas. Once you meet the Gorillas, only one hour will be allowed to take photos and then trek back to the starting point. You will meet your driver-guide and drive back to the lodge overnight at Ride 4 a Woman.
Day 4, cycling the Monkey trail from Buhoma – Ruhija (56KM)
After breakfast, you will start a challenging ride on the edge of Bwindi impenetrable National park/forest, ranging from the small track through rural areas to wide dirt roads straight through the forest. There is a lot of views and scenery along the trail and if you are lucky enough, you might encounter monkeys. Expect a chilly evening as you will end your ride at 2300M. You will have overnight at Broad Bill tented Camp.
Day 5 – Cycling from Ruhija – Lake Bunyonyi (39KM)
After breakfast, you will ride along Bwindi impenetrable National park to reach civilization again and you will be quite descending but still, you mean some hills to tackle before arriving at Lake Bunyonyi, expect to see some terraced fields in the Switzerland of Africa where people grow various crops. You will have lunch and overnight at Birdnest Resort.
Day 6 – Cycling from Lake Bunyonyi – Lake Mutanda in Kisoro
After breakfast – you will embark on Kable- Kisor road, you will ride for 60Km along the shores of Lake Bunyonyi and terraced field, you will follow a meandering scenic road, curving past the great highlands of Kigezi some of which are terraced for farming and others still feature the natural forests. You will have lunch and relax at Lake Mutanda Lake Resort.
Day 7 – Golden Monkey trekking – cycling in Kisoro town
Golden Monkey trekking is more like gorilla trekking, you will start with a transfer to the starting point for a briefing and then start your walk into the jungle to look for these fascinating primates with a golden patch on the back. Once you find them, you will be allowed one hour to take photos and then return to the starting point, where you will meet with your driver/guide and transfer them back to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will embark on cycling in the traversing steep hills and narrow valleys gifted with natural streams and rivers like Lake chahafi and River Mucha. You return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Mutanda Lake Resort.
Day 8 – Riding from Kisoro – Musanze (56Km)
After breakfast, you will start riding to cross the Uganda-Rwanda border via the Cyanika border. After the border formalities, you will continue to Musanze- Ruhengeri town for lunch and relax overnight at La Palme Hotel.
Days 9 – Cycling the Congo Nile trail – Gisenyi Lake Kivu
After breakfast, embark on cycling along the adventurous Congo Nile trail and enjoy a spectacular environment of this magical point that separates the watershed for River Nile and River Congo – with the scenic views of Lake Kivu on your left. You will spend the evening on the sandy and beautiful beaches of Lake Kivu at the border of Rwanda and Congo. Overnight at Serena Lake Kivu.
Day 10 – Transfer to Kigali International airport
Depending on your departure flight, you can opt to have a lazy breakfast and start a 4 hours’ drive to Kigali for your international flight out to end your 10 days Rwanda & Uganda Gorilla-cycling safari.
