This 7 Days Wildlife, Gorilla and Chimpanzee Habituation Safari starts in Kampala or Entebbe International Airport. Meet eye to eye with the amazing Mountain Gorillas of Uganda in their natural habitat as one of Africa’s major Safari highlights. This close encounter with these amazing primates is simply breathtaking. You will also get a close encounter with other diverse African wildlife, beautiful landscapes, and amazing culture and if you are a keen bird watcher, this is the place to be.
Pick up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe at 6:30 am after your morning breakfast and our driver guide will drive with you westwards through the districts of Mityana, Mubende, Kyegegwa, Kyenjojo, and Fort Portal and arrive at your lodge in time for your lunch.
Thereafter proceed for an evening community walk in the nearby Bigodi Swamp to spot wildlife including monkeys, bird species, butterflies, snakes, and after return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Chimpanzee habituation experience allows you to spend a half-day long with the Chimpanzee in their natural setting on your second day.
You will have an early breakfast packed lunch and you are off before dawn breaks into the forest. You meet your guide and you are off to where the Chimpanzees nested the night before.
Dawn is just breaking and the chimpanzee community you are going to be with is rising from their sleep.
Your day will be full, your camera will fill up with quality pictures of the Chimpanzees and you will get to learn to identify them individually by their markings, sometimes scars, and other unique features that make them stand apart from the rest. After your exercise, you will trek back to the park offices for graduation and you will be given a certificate in recognition of contributing to the Chimpanzee conservation in Uganda’s Kibale Forest National Park.
The day ends as the Chimpanzees climb into an amazing experience and you head back to your lodging for fresh up and relaxation and then dinner and overnight.
After your morning breakfast, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will drive southwards through Kasese town whilst enjoying stunning views of the Rwenzori Mountains – the fabled “Mountains of the Moon”.
You will arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and after you can relax for a little while and you may have an evening game drive to have a chance to spot some of the animal species Queen Elizabeth National Park has to offer.
You will wake up very early morning breakfast then go for your morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This wildlife viewing safari is for about 3 hours and you will follow different trails in search of animal species like the Jackals, Buffaloes, and Forest hogs, Warthogs, Uganda Kob, Elephants, Lions, Bushbucks, and the elusive Leopard. You will be taken back to the lodge to have for relaxation and wait for lunch. After lunch, you will head for your afternoon boat safari on the Kazinga Channel. The two-hour afternoon boat safari on the Kazing Channel will give you opportunities to spot bird (Kingfishers, pelicans, etc) species, Elephants, Buffaloes, Hippos, crocodiles, and other water animals. This is a natural channel between Lake George and Lake Edward and it comprises 40 kilometers long and with a depth of 4-8 meters deep.
Have an early morning breakfast and check out and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park home of the Mountain Gorillas. You will drive southwards through Kasese town whilst enjoying stunning views of the Rwenzori Mountains – the fabled “Mountains of the Moon”.
You will travel through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park called Ishasha. The Ishasha sector is popular for the tree-climbing Lions along with big games such as Topis, Buffaloes, Elephants, all of which you have a chance of a sighting.
You will have a lunch en-route and check in to your accommodation, situated just outside the thick forest of Bwindi forest in the late afternoon.
The Gorilla habituation experience allows you to spend four hours with the Mountain Gorillas in their natural habitat on the sixth day
You will have an early breakfast with a packed lunch and you are off before dawn breaks into the forest. You will meet your guide and you are off to full-day interaction. Dawn is just breaking and the semi-habituation Gorilla family you are going to trek.
Your day will be full, your camera will fill up with quality pictures of the Mountain Gorillas and you will get to learn to identify them as individuals by their markings, sometimes scars, and other unique features that make them stand apart from rest. The four hours start counting when you find the fresh trails of that semi-habituated Mountain Gorilla family. After your exercise, you will trek back to the park offices for graduation and you will be given a certificate in recognition of contributions to the Mountain Gorilla conservation in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
After your morning breakfast on your last day of 5 Days Gorilla and Chimpanzee Habituation Uganda Safari, check out and embark on the return journey to Kampala or Entebbe. You drive through Mbarara city where you shall make a stopover at Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch.
You will make another stopover at the Equator line in the Mpigi district for some picture moment, and a chance to purchase some crafts at the craft shops. Thereafter proceed to Kampala or Entebbe and arrive late afternoon Drop off at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport.
