This 8 Days Kidepo Valley and Murchison Falls National Park Safari with Great adventure Safaris takes you to explore Uganda wildlife in the two Uganda National Parks in northern Uganda. This 8-day safari exposes you to the picturesque landscape of Kidepo Valley National Park and you get to do great activities like; game safaris, nature walks, cultural visits, and more. You will as well visit Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest National Park where you will experience more game viewing and boat safaris along the Nile River and as well do the Ziwa Rhino Tracking along your way back to Kampala or Entebbe.
Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by Great Adventure Safaris representative at Entebbe International Airport who will then take you to your booked accommodation in Kampala or Entebbe.
You will be picked by your driver-guide at your hotel or residence in Kampala City or Entebbe after your breakfast to start your tour to the most isolated National Park in Uganda and we will drive you through the plains and remote vegetation to northern parts of Uganda, with lunch en-route in Gulu, before proceeding to Kitgum for dinner and overnight.
After your morning breakfast, drive to Kidepo Valley National Park located in the northeastern part of Uganda. Check-in your accommodation property, relax and prepare for a later afternoon game safari. Kidepo National Park has once been voted the best National Park in Africa and it is the only place where you can see Cheetahs. Kidepo Valley National Park boasts of several feelings of pride of lions that can be easily spotted compared to other National Parks, Elephants, Giraffes, Buffaloes, and many more.
Today, you will spend both morning and afternoon doing game safaris in the Savannah plains of Kidepo Valley National Park. This park hosts a great variety of animal species in comparison to any other Ugandan Parks. Of the eighty species recorded in 1971, Twenty-eight weren’t known to exist in any other National Park within Uganda.
Carnivore species distinctive to Kidepo Valley National Park are the Hunting dog, Bat-eared Fox, Cheetah, Striped Hyena, and Caracal. The more uncommon ungulates are the Greater and Lesser Kudu, roan antelope, Chandler’s mountain Reedbuck, beisaoryx, Klipspringer, and Bright’s Gazelle, which have been greatly decreased by poachers within the past few years.
Among the other big ungulates are Elephants, Oribi, Burchell’s zebras, Jackson’s hartebeests, Bush pigs, Bohor reedbuck, Warthogs, Rothschild giraffes, Waterbucks, Cape buffaloes, Elands, Bush duikers, and Bushbucks. Five primate species are found within the Park of which is the most endemic in the Kavirondo bush baby.
Carnivores existing include Lions, Side-striped jackals, Leopards, Black-backed jackals, various small cats as well as spotted Hyenas.
After morning breakfast, you will visit the homes of the Karamajong people, interact with the elders and get to know more about the lifestyle, culture, and behaviors of the onetime pastoral group or choose to do more game drives on the day.
Begin your day with morning breakfast and then transfer to Murchison Falls National Park located in the North-Western part of Uganda at the end of the Albertine Rift Valley which is the largest and oldest National Park in Uganda. The Park sits on an area of about 4000 square kilometers; Murchison Falls Conservation Area is bisected by the Victoria Nile, which plunges 45metres over the remnant valley wall, creating the dramatic falls. You will arrive in the late evening and transfer to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Today you will begin with a cup of tea or coffee, and your driver-guide with a game ranger will pick you up for a morning game drive where you will have an opportunity to spot several Antelopes, Hippos, Buffaloes, Giraffes, and if lucky, big cats such as Leopards and Lions and then return to the lodge for a hot lunch.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy the boat safari to the bottom of the falls. On your way from the jetty point to the bottom of the falls, you will spot several herds of Buffaloes, Crocodiles, Hippos, Waterbird species, and other wild animals as they flock to the River Nile to drink water. Continue upstream to the base of the falls to observe how water squeezes in a narrow gorge of 7 meters, later on, drive back to lodge for dinner and overnight.
After your relaxed breakfast, prepare for your drive to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola. Tracking Rhinos take about one to two hours, depending on the location of the Rhinos, and is done on foot, unlike other typical game safaris. There are rangers here, whose job is to ensure the general well-being and safety of the Rhinos and assist tourists in spotting the Rhinos during tracking.
The tracking activity necessitates one to have closed shoes, long pants, water, and insect repellent and among others. Activities with the Sanctuary include bird watching where you spot the Shoebill stork, Canoe Ride, Night Walk, Nature Walk, and other activities. Visiting the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a wonderful Uganda safari experience and it brings you in a very close and safe distance to these magnificent creatures. And then transfer to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport.
