Aerial filming in Uganda – Permits and permissions needed
Aerial Filming in Uganda and Rwanda is allowed once you have the required permissions at the right time. Great Adventure Safaris have always fixed this to our clients carrying out aerial filming in some of our National Parks, Forests of Uganda for the best of their shoots.
Aerial filming in Uganda and Rwanda can be done using drones and small Aircraft. We assist all our clients in processing permissions to temporarily import and fly their drones in Uganda and Rwanda. Drone importation and flying in Uganda and Rwanda is still tricky and requires you time to process the right permissions through relevant government offices in charge of the permissions and this can take a given period of about 3-4 months.

Please note that if you wish to fix any equipment on your helicopter you will have to temporarily clear them in at a fee with the Uganda customs and if your location is a National Park or any protected area a filming contract will be required as well as a Memorandum of Understanding and pay for the landing fee as well.

Other Logistical services that we offer
Media Cards/Press Accreditation
Uganda Media Council requires any foreign journalist and all film crew members to be accredited and we can secure Media Cards on your behalf in 3-4 working days if you follow our instructions. When contacted, we will send you our Form G which gathers all the details required by Uganda Media Council which should be filled and returned by email to the respective fixer in our office plus two passport photos and a copy Passport from each crew member. Please note that if you are filming for more than one month, then the fees per Media Cards will increase. Our long-term relationship with Uganda Media Council has helped us to prosper in this field and that’s why we remain ahead of everyone. Please contact Great Adventure Safaris for your Form G.
Temporary Customs Kit clearing
The government of Uganda requires all film crews intending to come with their filming equipment to temporarily clear it at immigration on arrival at the Entebbe International Airport something that can waste much of your time and you end up incurring the unexpected cost. At Great Adventure Safaris, we will request you to send through your Kit list which we shall send to our specialist clearing agent for an evaluation. It is usually a percentage of the total and once we have established how much it would cost, we will advise you accordingly and you pay for this in advance. On arrival, our clearing agent will be waiting for you at immigrations to help and take you through all this process.
Visa for Film Crews
Crews can always obtain a Visa on arrival but sometimes, film crews do not like lining up for this. We can help you to obtain a Tourist Visa or Business Visa to Uganda on arrival or inform one of our embassies closer to you. If requested, we will send you a letter that you will present to any embassy for them to issue you a visa otherwise, you can easily secure it on arrival at Entebbe International Airport after paying only USD50. This always depends on where you will be filming. We will advise you on the best and affordable and decent accommodation properties in such areas. We are not only film fixers but Tour Operators entitled to discounted rates which we will extend to your organization if contacted.
