Agandi Eco Lodge Ruhija – The Ruhija sector is situated in the Eastern side of Bwindi Impenetrable national park and it harbors four gorilla families namely; Bitukura Gorilla family, Oruzogo family, Mukiza and Kyaguriro family. The Kyaguriro family was habituated mainly for research purposes and only 6 visitors are allowed to visit this group in a day with prior permission from the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
Ruhija is situated between Buhoma sector to the north and Kibale forest National Park to the east thereby making it easily accessed from parts of north and south and connects 218km to Queen Elizabeth national park.
By road, Ruhija can be accessed from Entebbe/ Kampala via Kabale or from Kampala via Rukungiri, Kihihi, and Butogota then to Ruhija. A 4×4 vehicle is required for this journey due to the bumpy and muddy nature of the road.
By air, there is no direct flight to Ruhija but you one can fly to Kihihi airstrip and then drive two hours to Ruhija.
This is a new Eco friendly Lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable forest in Ruhija, which is a few minutes to the Uganda Wildlife Authority briefing point. The lodge offers a typical reinvented Ugandan style accommodations only made with local materials and arts. These include the Ugandan Huts, the Volcanic Cottages and, the Tree Nests. These will bring you all the comfort you need to enjoy during your stay whether while tracking gorillas or just taking your time to visit the region.
A stay at Agandi Eco lodge would not have you waking up at dawn to get to the Gorilla trekking briefing point because of its close proximity to the area.
