Best time for filming in Uganda – Uganda the Pearl of Africa is one of the beautiful and a potential filming location which attracts many filming companies and documentary shooting companies. Uganda is located in East Africa along the Equator line and enjoys favorable climate conditions all year round. Filming in Uganda is possible at any time of the year but the best time to film is during the two windows of the dry seasons. The first dry season starts from December to February and the second one is from June to August. Great Adventure Safaris do not recommend filming in the wet seasons of March to May and September to October.
Filming during the dry season
Filming companies would like to shoot all day without interruptions. Filming in Uganda during the dry seasons will provide the best of that. You will schedule your filming and nothing like rain will interrupt it. You will also discover that some filming locations especially in remote areas have poor roads which become worse once it rains. These roads tend to become slippery hence affecting your filming schedule.
Dry seasons are the best times when it comes to filming Uganda wildlife in National Parks. During the dry seasons, most animals gather at specific water points at a given time making it easier to film them. While on these drinking points, so many behavioral activities can be filmed making your shoot the best of all.
One challenge with dry seasons is the heating up of filming equipment. Temperatures tend to hike resulting in the heating of some filming equipment most especially those brought in from Europe and not used to harsh climatic conditions in Uganda and Africa.

Uganda Filming Permits
Great Film Fixers helps you with organizing Uganda filming permits and permissions for film crews who wish to film in Uganda. Several locations in Uganda require film crews to have permission to conduct filming and we do that on behalf of film crews that do contact us. We work hand in hand with many government agencies to make sure that permits are secured in time. We have been working with most of them and it just takes us few days to process all the required permissions for you.
Some of the agencies like the National Forestry Authority do not require so many details but a letter written to them expressing the desire to film in Uganda’s forest will be enough.
Other organizations that strictly request that you get permits is the Uganda Wildlife Authority where every film crew will need to sign a memorandum of understanding-filming contract for the period they will spend in any of Uganda National Park carrying out filming. Great Film Fixers do organize this for your crew and you do not need to hassle so much. Once you have provided us with what you want to film, in which National Park and the number of days and months you will be spending, then we will forward them to Uganda Wildlife Authority who will, in turn, evaluate and process a filming contract for you.
Filming Security in Uganda
Great Adventure Safaris arrange and organize filming security for film crews and production companies that request it. There are several reasons why film crew companies and production companies may need filming security while filming in Uganda and East Africa at large. Most insurance companies that insure filming equipment will require you to have security while filming in Uganda such that should there be any unexpected circumstance or act, then, they are assured that you tried your best by hiring a security firm to protect your filming equipment but what happened was beyond your control.

While in Uganda, you may use the services of Uganda police, which by far is the cheapest of all forces, or you can hire services of any given private and licensed security firms. Whether you want uninformed or un-uniformed security personnel, with or without guns, we will do this for you to make sure that all goes well with your filming.
