Birding safaris to Semuliki National park – Semuliki national park is situated in the remote corner of south western uganda which protects the eastern vast Ituri forest and forms part of forest continuum of that stretches across the democratic republic of Congo to the river Zaire .semuliki national park is the one of the best site of birding in Africa where by the species of the Congo bio species are seen in the semuliki forest what cannot be seen anywhere in the rest of Africa as this birding spot is commonly known as true birders haven .

The most wanted species that bird watchers would like to see are Nkulengu rail, Black wattled hornbill, African Piculet, black collared love bird , Spot breasted Ibis and Lyre tailed Honey guide and these birds has made many birders to come in uganda to forest birding .

Birding in Semiliki area it can be done in areas around the hot springs which offers the spectacular Freckled night jar, African Goshawk  red thighed and great sparrow hawks , Ayres hawk eagle the tiny red billed dwarf ,African pied , and whited thighed hornbills  and the cassins spine tail .And at dawn and dusk you may hear the white spotted flufftail ,African Wood owl, Black shouldered night jar ,the elusive Nkulengu rail calling at night .in the swampy where the hot springs are in the trail trail to the hot springs .

The other species to see are forest francolin ,chestnut flunked goshawk, lemon bellied crombec , dwarf king fisher ,white throated blue swallow , green tailed bristile bill ,siple green bul, red rumped tinker bird ,brown crowned eremomela, Yellow throated cuckoo ,zenkers honey guide ,red billed Helmet shrike , bred biled puff back , fierry breasted bush shrike ,orange tufted sun bird ,grants blue bill ,maxiwells black weaver and blue billed malimbe  which likes to feeding in fig trees on the main road bordering the park and areas near the Sempaya hot springs .

For hard core bird lovers are supposed to bird semilik national  park where by they are able to see semilik congo bio species andmany of them can be seen in the Kirumia river trail where birding here is ahard work and can befrustrating if you don’t have enough time to search for the skuling bird species.
