How long does gorilla trekking take? it has been a question and many travelers who have discussed about it on different forums like trip advisor and lonely planet, but some travelers when they talk of length of gorilla trekking they mean, how many days does the safari take and others do mean the length on the actual day of Gorilla trekking in Uganda or Rwanda.
Some clients who have trekked mountain gorillas before, collectively agree that the length of gorilla experience is un predictable but for real it takes between 30 minutes and three quarters of the day, but a group with seniors citizens and unfit will trek a group that is nearer and in 30 minutes to 1 hour they find the gorillas watch them and come back but there are those who are fit and well prepared, would go far to look for the mountain gorillas that inhabit in high elevations, and this is the reason why we advise our clients to take prior physicals before the actual trek.
A gorilla trekking safari takes a minimum of 3 days, with day 1 transfer to Bwindi National Park and day 2 Gorilla tracking and day 3 for transfer back to Entebbe/ Kigali from Bwindi. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is the most thought after destination of the travelers and they refer to as the length gorilla safari takes. But when we talk of gorilla trekking we mean the actual trek on the day of trekking.
Gorilla safari length depends on various factors and that is why we are not specific but we give you a time frame and between that we believe that you would be back from the forest as the trekking is not done at night. Mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park live in the high altitudes, so you may choose a gorilla family that is far away from the starting point, this means you will take long while on the trek and you can come back late evening. Another fact is that mountain gorillas live in the wild, so they are always on the move looking for food, because of fights with other gorillas, you might find a group when it has moved from a close distance. Visitors that double trek are given different gorilla families each day, so they can tell if the first trek was long or the last one.
