Uganda, Rwanda, and DR Congo are amazing countries to visit for a complete wildlife safari. Visitors are always impressed with the weather and stunning scenery. They are the only countries where you can go see the endangered silverback gorillas and learn about gorilla conservation programs during your wildlife tour. Though considered developing countries, the people in the three countries are happy and very friendly to foreign visitors.
Our team of experienced and knowledgeable staff will help you organize exhilarating mission trips to Africa, wildlife safaris, and short-day excursions within East and Central Africa. You can choose to go for mountain gorilla trekking combined with wildlife viewing, Chimpanzee tracking, golden monkey trekking, mountain hiking tours, birdwatching, Eco-tours, community visits, or nature walks. You might even decide to go hiking the Rwenzori mountains in Uganda, Mount Karisimbi in Rwanda, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, or the Nyiragongo active volcano in Congo. Then there is biking through the Congo Nile Trail on a Rwanda Safari or a weekend viewing the source of the river Nile and white water rafting in Jinja. We also arrange safaris in Kenya and Tanzania.
Uganda is home to over 19 gorilla families of which the majority live in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park which is a great ancient forest so dense that parts of it have remained hidden from human view for centuries.
In the south of the country lies Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, which borders Rwanda’s Volcanoes national park and Congo’s Virunga National Park. The park is home to one gorilla family, the Nyakagezi Group, and only eight people per day are allowed to visit the family.
Tracking gorillas in Rwanda is safe and relatively accessible. At the latest count, there are approximately 1,000 mountain gorillas in the wild, with 604 in the Virunga Massif. The population is slowly increasing, thanks to concerted efforts between our governments, communities, and NGOs.
Twelve gorilla families are living in the Volcanoes National Park, which is fully habituated, with a few others habituated solely for scientific research. The groups, or troops, consist of at least one silverback along with several females and youngsters. The families are known as Susa, Igisha, Karisimbi, Sabyinyo, Amahoro, Agashya, Kwitonda, Umubano, Hirwa, Bwenge, Ugyenda and Muhoza.
How safe are the gorilla safaris and other wildlife activities?
Bwindi Gorilla Safari Bookings – Uganda and Rwanda are very safe countries to go for wildlife safaris. There is still instability in certain parts of DR Congo but the country’s unique attractions make her simply irresistible – DR Congo is the only country where you can see both silverback mountain gorillas and lowland gorillas. Moreover, there is the breathtaking Nyiragongo lava lake which is the only one tourists around the world can pay to see. Security and safety while watching silverback gorillas during a Congo Safari is assured by assigning armed rangers to move with visitors throughout their gorilla tracking safari. A gorilla safari in Congo may be unpredictable because of the insecurity around the Virunga National Park, but the park management is prepared to go to great lengths to protect tourists including closing the park if things appear to be getting out of hand.
