Exclusive nature walks in Rwenzori National Park – The park provides opportunity for nature walks within the central circuit zone. Visitors can follow the river Mubuku, and glimpse views of Baker and portal peaks as they hike up to 2300m above sea level Bwamba pass. Before a road was built in 1940 to link Fork Portal with the remote town of Bundibugyo, local people followed the direct route between these settlements which was tough 1500m high trek over the steep northern Rwenzori ridge known as the Bwamba pass. The Abanya Rwenzori community group leads visitors over the mountains through isolated mountain villages to visit the bamboo forest and enjoy superb rift valley views.
The Angola colobus, the black and white colobus, L’Hoest monkey, chimpanzees, forest elephants, hyrax, leopard, yellow backed duiker, golden cat, genet, giant forest hog and bushbuck.
There are 241 species of birds recorded and 19 of them are endemic like the Rwenzori Turaco, the malachite sunbird, the long tailed cuckoo, long eared owl, handsome francolin, cinnamon chested bee-eater, robin, montane Boubou, slender-billed starling, black eagle.
Mount Rwenzori National Park is a home to magnificent Rwenzori mountain ranges which comes with waterfalls, blue cirque Lakes, unique vegetation as well as 18 mammal species, 217 avifaunal species, 9 reptiles, elephants, leopards, chimpanzees and many others.

As well, you can also take a 7 day trek around the central tourism circuit and 5 day trek on the Kilembe route to southern parts of the park.

With over 217 bird species that are confined within this park, birders are never left out. Mount Rwenzori National Park boasts of its diverse bird species and while on birding tour, the birds to spot out include barred long tailed cuckoo, long eared owl, Rwenzori Turaco, slender billed starling, Lagden’s bush shrike, blue headed sunbird, barbets, golden winged sunbird, greenbul, handsome francolin, strange weaver, illadopsis, crimson wings, flycatchers, cinnamon chested bee-eaters and many more.
