Fishing at Murchison falls on Victoria Nile – Murchison falls is Uganda’s largest national park which is located north western Uganda and it’s dissected by the Victoria Nile which starts its journey from Lake Victoria Jinja before exploding through the Rapids that are famous for Rafting Adventures in Uganda.
If you’re an experienced angler or first timer in Africa then you should consider fishing in Uganda’s Victoria Nile which is a home to Africa’s largest fish species the Nile perch.
The Nile perch usually breed below the mighty Murchison falls which is one of the strongest water falls in Africa and it’s one of the premier fishing areas while fishing in Murchison falls national park this has attracted famous anglers like Jeremy weedy of river monsters and Zed Hogan of monster fisher, the river has seen a record of 114 kgs caught at the bottom of falls.
There are two ways of fishing on the Victoria Nile for Nile perch, Cat fish and Sudan catfish.
Some anglers prefer to spend less for fishing safaris in Uganda especially in Murchison falls national park and the best way to do that is to drive to the top of the falls and take down the 30 minute walk with Uganda wildlife Authority Ranger who will ensure that you are taken care of in terms of catching live baits and landing fish off the steep cliffs of Bakers Rock.
You can also hire a boat to drop you off at the bottom of falls and then fish off the shores up at the falls and then drive back to your lodge after fishing; however you will also need to arrange for the services of a Uganda wildlife Ranger.
This is so far the best method way of fishing as it will give you both chances of fishing at the Gorge of the rocks and also the big pools downstream where the big Nile usually prefers staying.
Commonly the fishing up at the Gorge is done using Lures that sink about 3 matters deep but anglers can carry a few Lures that are deeper than that and the second option is to use live baits which are usually caught in the morning by the clients and the fishing Guide, thirdly for catfish clients can carry fresh beef from the lodge or they can use dead baits.
