Traditionally Gorilla safaris to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park were done by road and many travellers didn’t fancy visiting this National Park just because of the 8-9 hours’ drive that is involved from Entebbe to the National park but with now the option of flying, this has made it easier to do safaris to the less congested park and another option to visit when no available Gorilla tracking permits in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The flights here take an approximate time of just one and half hours to Kisoro Airstrip by Aerolink and Fly Uganda the operators in the region. Flights land in Kisoro Airstrip and our driver guide will be ready to pick you up and transfer where you will have booked for the night. The flights are available all year round.
One important thing to note is that because of the weather in Kisoro being near Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks is very unpredictable and all flights are scheduled for morning while it is still calm. The winds in the afternoon make it unfavourable for any flight to go there around that time.
Sometimes flights take a little longer to get there or leave because they do sometimes connect via Kihihi Airstrip in Buhoma the Northern part of Bwindi Forest and Kasese Airstrip in case they have clients to pick or drop off as they proceed.
