Great Adventure safaris organizes flying safaris to Buhoma Gorilla sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and other tourist destinations where travellers use fly throughout their safari stay in Uganda.
Although road trips are fun and adventurous and you get to view everything from a close-range position, some traveller do not want to sit in the car for many hours and therefore are now opting for flying safaris. The beauty of flying safaris is that you get to visit as many destinations as you want in a short time and you also get to visit some of the inaccessible places in the country.
Traditionally Gorilla safaris to Buhoma sector were done by road and many travellers didn’t fancy visiting this National park because of the 9-10 hours driving on the road from Kampala/Entebbe involved; now they opt to flying safaris which has made it easier to do safaris to the less congested part of the National park. The flights here take an approximate time of just one and half hours with Aerolink Uganda a local flight operator based in Entebbe International Airport. Flights land in Kihihi Airfield and one of our trained and professional driver guides will pick you up and transfer to your booked lodge for relaxation and if interested you can participate in one of the activities around the park before your dinner and overnight.
Please note that there are two flights to Kihihi Airfield so depending on your planned flying safari to Buhoma Gorilla sector, Great Adventure Safaris recommend that you book your flights in advance. Sometimes flights take a little long to get there or leave because they do sometimes connect via Kasese and Kisoro Airfields in case they have clients to drop or pick as they proceed.
Buhoma sector the Northern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park can be visited all year round but the best time is during the dry months of December to March and June to October. During the drier months tracking is much easier but the Mountain Gorillas move much further as they look for food. This does not mean that Gorilla tracking cannot be done in the wet season since the chances to see Gorillas in the wild are much less the same as during the drier months of the year.
Booking is done all year round and travellers are required to do so in advance as well as Gorilla permits before they sell out. Great Adventure Safaris ensure that once you send through an inquiry, services are booked for your safari and we recommend booking a trip at least two months before the date but nevertheless even last minute bookings can be made if services are available so send through that inquiry and one of our consultants will respond back within the shortest time.
