Gorilla trekking in Buhoma Region

Gorilla trekking in buhoma region, Bwindi forest Uganda. This was the first gorilla trekking region to be open for gorilla trekking with mubare group as the first gorilla family to be habituated in Bwindi forest, buhoma region.

Now buhoma region has 4 gorilla trekking familiyes, well habituated and open for gorilla trekking, this is the main reason why most of the tourists prefer trekking buhoma gorilla families, actually some look to trek the mubare family because of the history. Buhoma found in the northern part of Bwindi forest National Park is one the most accessible gorilla area in the park.

Buhoma can easily be accessed from Queen Elizabeth National Park than any other sectors and tourists taking flights from Entebbe to Bwindi forest, Buhoma is so close to the airstrip where most visitors are picked upon landing and transferred to different lodges.

Other gorilla regions re close to Rwanda and most of gorilla trekking safaris from Rwanda trek gorillas in rushaga, ruhinja and nkuringo, when it comes to buhoma there is a long distance but still if you cannot find space in other regions, you can go ahead and book gorilla permits for buhoma but you will need more driving ours.

To do a gorilla safari the north, you need to book your gorilla permits in advance as buhoma permits tend to be competitive yet the region does not have many gorilla families like in Rushaga. If you are flying from Entebbe, it is better to trek buhoma gorillas since the ticket is cheaper when flying to Kihihi that Kisoro.
