How to get to Murchison falls national park is Uganda’s largest national park with over 76 mammal species and 450 recorded bird species the park is located in the northwest of Kampala the capital city of Uganda. Murchison falls national park is managed by Uganda wildlife Authority (UWA) a government body responsible for all game parks in . The park spreads inland to Lake Albert and the River Nile up to Karuma falls. The park is situated in the districts of Bulisa, Kiryandongo, and Nwoya and the nearest is Masindi town all together forming the Murchison falls conservation area.

The park covers an area of 3840sq.km making it the largest game park in Uganda and one of the highest tourist destinations in Uganda. There are also other parks to visit besides Murchison falls national park such as Queen Elizabeth national park, kibale forest and many more.

By Road

 Via Masindi, Murchison Falls National Park is about 5-6 hours’ drive from Kampala via Luwero ,Nakasongola where there is Rhino tracking activities then to Masindi which is your last big town before the park gate Kichumbanyobo where payments are made from before proceeding to the top of Murchison falls.                                                                                                                                                  . You can also access the park from Western Uganda driving north from Kibale/Kasese via Kagadi-Hoima and Bulisa this route takes about 7-8 hours before arriving at the park gate in Mubako. Driving times for this route vary depending on the condition of the roads

By Air

Murchison falls National Park is the largest National Park among the ten we have, and it is situated in the Northwestern part of Uganda, it was started by John Speke and James Grant who were the first European to visit the present day Murchison Falls Conservation Area in the year 1862. Before it was renamed Kabalega National Park and it was Explored by Sir Samuel and his Wife Florence in early 1863 -4, the park was later named by Baker after Geologist Roderick and turned to be Murchison Falls National Park

Game drive

The Park is a nice place for game drives take a drive and try out look for wild animals including Elephants, Lions, Leopards, Giraffes, Uganda kobs, Waterbuck, Jackson’s hurtbeast, the visitors can also spot different species of birds over 450 in number.

Nature Walk

The guided nature walk at Murchison Falls can be done at Budogo forest that normally takes two to four hours with number of different tree species including fig trees, mahogany trees, Albania trees, Alstonia Bonei, velvet monkeys, Black and white Columbus moneys, and the Chimpanzee as well.

Community Visits

The Park is surrounded by number of tribes, the Alur, Acholi and the Banyoro here people who visit them, experience the original African culture by these tribes and also to know their different way of life, tourist can buy their locally craft made from local materials and go with them for remembrance.

Chimpanzee Trekking

The guided Chimpanzee trekking that can last two to three hours in Budongo forest is also another memorable experience the visitors can enjoy on their visit to the beautiful Murchison Falls National Park.

The park offers sport fishing experience on the Nile, take a chance to enjoy this adventure which is best done in months of December, march, June to October. Visitors are advised to take the fishing adventure with an expert experienced tourist guide who knows more about this activity.

Murchison Falls can be accessed from Kampala by road and the drive takes 5-6 hours and it passes through Budogo forest . Alternatively, a tourist can fly from Entebbe International Airport to Pakuba or Bugungu Airfields depending on which lodge you are booked on and this takes you one hour.
