Ichumbi Gorilla lodge Rushaga sector is one of the best accommodations in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park that will make your Uganda Gorilla tracking safari memorable. The lodge provides mid-range and luxurious accommodation facilities. It is located in Rushaga region of Bwindi forest where we find eight habituated Gorilla families of the park. Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge has 9 self-contained cottages situated on a quiet forested hill which offers beautiful views of Bwindi forest and the Virunga volcanoes. The cottages are well furnished with the floor and balconies built with local timber which gives it a touch of African style while the doors are made of glass. The cottages have wide balconies where you can relax and watch over the area which frequently has birds. The rooms are self-contained with en-suite bathrooms and flushing toilets.

Guests enjoy delicious local and international dishes served at the restaurant. The bar stocks a wide range of soft drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks which you can enjoy as you relax at the balcony after your Gorilla tracking and for the sun downer.

The lodge is situated about 15 minutes from Rushaga Gorilla tracking trail head where guests get their briefing for the Gorilla trek.

How to get to Ichumbi gorilla lodge

Ichumbi is located in the southern part of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and it takes about 10 hours to reach there by road from Kampala or Entebbe International Airport. Alternatively, you can get there by air flying with the domestic flight from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airfield to Kisoro Airfield and then connect to Rushaga sector by road. The flight takes about one and a half hours and driving from Kisoro to Rushaga takes about 2 hours.

A quicker way of reaching Rushaga is by flying to Kigali International Airport in Rwanda and drive for about 5 hours to Rushaga sector for your Bwindi Gorilla tracking through Kigali-Rwanda.
