Is Uganda or Rwanda better for gorilla trekking – There are a few differences between Uganda and Rwanda when it comes to Gorilla tracking, whereby one has to consider when planning a Gorilla tracking safari to either Uganda or Rwanda. Below are some of the difference one has to look at before.
Price Comparison
Now both Uganda and Rwanda require you to have purchase Gorilla permits if you are to enjoy the Gorilla tacking activity. Uganda’s Gorilla Tracking Permits are relatively cheaper at a cost of USD700 per person per trek for viewing and observing the Gorillas in the habitat for one hour, whereas Rwanda’s Gorilla permits are USD1500 per person per trek for the same period of time.
Travel Time
From Entebbe International Airport or Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park takes about 9-10hours drive by road, that is in sections like Buhoma in the North and Nkuringo, Rushaga in the South and Ruhija in the East of the park, but can still fly to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. A 3 days safari is recommendable, while as for Rwanda it is a 3-4 hours Gorilla Tracking drive from Kigali International Airport in Kigali city. A 2 days Gorilla safari is advisable.
Gorilla tracking activity
Is Uganda or Rwanda better for gorilla trekking – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest being very thick when tracking one needs to be in good shape and physically capable since a lot of energy and effort is required to track these mountain Gorillas, whereas in Rwanda this activity is a bit easier because it’s done on the side of the Volcano and assigned a group basing on the physical capabilities.
Photography and viewing
Due to the darkness in the forest, taking photos may depend on the family you are visiting, the location and get a very clear picture of the mountain Gorillas, but for Rwanda its quiet challenging because you have got to climb up the side of the Volcano, also take a good picture.
