Kusini plains Ngorongoro crater Tanzania – These Plains are characterized by a combination of habitats. As a matter of fact, both grasslands and a forested area are present, and the overlapping of these two habitats makes it so that much more animals live here than in other areas of the Serengeti National Park and is an ideal area for great wildebeest migration.
There are elephants, giraffes, buffalos and two packs of lions. During the green season it is possible to sight many migratory birds coming here from Europe, such as storks, these Plains include a secret gem. It is known as “Kusini Crater”. It is not an actual volcanic crater, but circular shaped grassland surrounded by a forest of Acacias. It is home to a high concentration of animals, even cheetahs.
This is a remote area of the Park and few visitors venture here, making safaris in the Kusini Plains ngorongoro crater even more special.
The only permanent camp in the Serengeti’s remote south, Sanctuary Kusini has the privilege of overlooking predator-populated plains where game viewing is in high-definition throughout the calendar.
The main lodge is set around a cluster of spectacular kopjes — rocky outcrops — so at Sanctuary Kusini you don’t just have front-row seats for when the Great Migration passes through at full throttle, but you can ogle game congregating on these grassy plains year-round.
