Mgahinga golden monkey tracking packages – Mgahinga Golden monkey tracking experience will take you to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in South-Western Uganda. Small and still marginalised by tourists and tour operators, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is the only Park where Mountain Gorillas co-exist with Golden monkeys. Great Adventure Safaris organises Golden monkey safari packages to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park to participate in the Golden monkey tracking and Golden monkey habituation experience.
Golden monkeys are endangered, beautiful unique primates found on the slopes of the Virunga volcanoes which are shared between countries of Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In Uganda, Golden monkey tracking is only done in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Golden monkey tracking is an active safari package compared to Gorilla and Chimpanzee tracking in certain instances because it is done in the mountainous area and they are continuously moving which requires you to follow them. They are small and fast in their movements and prefer to rummage through the bamboo sections of the forest because of eating the young bamboo shoots.
They live in groups of about 30 individuals and more, roaming over a large territory and one needs to obtain a Golden monkey tracking permit in advance and Great Adventure Safaris is here to help you find availability of these permits and book them for you once contacted with specifications of dates for which you would like to trek the Golden monkeys.
Mgahinga golden monkey tracking packages – The Golden monkey tracking starts early in the morning with a briefing at the Park offices before trekkers can start the trip in the jungle. You will spend one hour with the Golden monkeys taking photos, learning how they behave when you find them in the forest. Golden monkey tracking takes about 2-3 hours depending on where they nested the previous night and how far it is from the starting point.

Day pack for your lunch in case the trek takes longer hours than expected
