Logistically this itinerary requires a 9-10 hours driving from Entebbe or Kampala through Uganda towns and stopovers down to the green rolling hills to Nkuringo Gorilla region. You can as well choose to fly from Entebbe International Airport to Kisoro Airfield with the scheduled domestic flight which takes 1-2 hours and then drive to Nkuringo for 2 hours to your Lodge.
On the Nteko ridge overlooking a beautiful swath of the World-renowned Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park at Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge enjoy a superb vantage across the Kashasha River Valley to the forested hill known as ‘Nkuringo’ and the surrounding swathe of trees of the Bwindi Forest.
This section of forest is home to the three Nkuringo Habituated Gorilla families where the Lodge provides a prime access point to the start of the amazing activity. The Lodge has panoramic views of the majestic Volcanoes of the Virunga chain, across the escarpment into the Albertine Rift Valley within the DRC Congo.
Accommodation at Nkuringo cottages are hand-crafted using local materials, each cottage featuring sitting area, fireplace, en-suite bathroom and private Veranda/Balcony. Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is Uganda’s highest lodge at over 2000 metres above sea level. It is intimate, beautiful and remote. Sitting up on a ridge, above the clouds, looking across to the Virunga volcanoes, behind you is the primordial, mysterious and impenetrable forest Bwindi National Park. As you sit there, drinking your chilled wine, or your freshly brewed coffee, or your freshly squeezed juice or your amber coloured whisky you smile. You smile because you know that your personal butler is lighting the fire in your cottage and setting out your freshly laundered clothes. Gorgeous meals are being prepared, and after breakfast you will walk from the lodge to the Nkuringo trailhead for your Mountain Gorillas tracking experience.
Guests at Clouds stay in their own cottage. Built of local volcanic stone, every cottage has a large sitting room with fireplace, vast overstuffed armchairs, and hand-woven carpets. Each individual cottage features the work of one of Uganda’s most respected artists (we call them the ‘Clouds 9’). Their work has been so highly regarded by guests that they have commissioned their own pieces and now the work of these artists graces the walls of homes and offices in New York, Toronto, Vancouver, Los Angeles, and London.
