Nyege Nyege used to take place in the rainy season but after some time it was moved to the dry season. This festival is considered the most important 4-days international music festival in East Africa for both creation and its unique East African party vibe. Nyege Nyege is part of a Kampala based arts collective including residency and community studios as well as an artist management agency and a legendary party crew called Boutiq Electroniq. Nyege Nyege music festival aims at showcasing the exciting development on the East African scene to show darling projects and give you a real voice to the underground, making it a highlight for both audiences and musicians alike.
In a breathtaking forest on the shores of the source of the River Nile is where the festival takes place, perfect for a swim or spiritual contemplation, as well as wild River rafting and other fun. Nyege wonderland is full of pathways and hidden corners which makes it a perfect site for you. There is a campsite called Nyege Ville which is soon to be introduced and it is next to the festival ground that will make you enjoy the festival experience even more always in a safe, comfortable and respectful way. Despite attracting a global audience and being international in nature, Nyege Nyege music festival is not classic “destination festival”, it is first and foremost a celebration of Uganda culture and African music and the “spirit of Uganda” is ever present. Most importantly, Nyege Nyege is all about DANCING, because when the Nyege hits you, when the urge to dance is no longer controllable, then you must let go, and let Nyege take over.
