Regal sunbird in Uganda is the small sunbird with olive green colour above the primaries, the sides of the breast to the flanks are yellow and it has a shorter bill with a red colour from the breast up to the vent.
This sunbird can be seen on a high altitude areas of eastern part of the forest mostly ruhija in the eastern part of Bwindi impenetrable national park.
When you are going for birding and you are going to stay in ruhija which is in the eastern part of Bwindi the vegetation there is heath and open and this becomes easy for taking pictures. it can be seen when birding in a community trail mostly in the morning and evening which can take two to three hours . if you have a full day birding in the area it can be got on the way to the Mubwindi swamp.
Some times when you are having a vehicle you can see the regal sun bird in the road passing through the bamboo zone which is highest part of the impenetrable forest and a bamboo zone has a lot of chances of getting regal sun bird.
Regal sunbird in Uganda can be seen every day even if it is in a breeding season or not and when it is not in a breeding season responds to the bird call when has been tapped in few minutes .
Other birds you can see when looking for the regal sunbird include ; Rwenzori hill babbler or African hill babbler ,white starred robin , Equatorial Akalat ,Montane Oriole, Dohytes bush shrike ,golden breasted bunting, cinnamon bee eater, grey throated barbet, yellow white eye, chubbs cisticola ,black sawing , yellow streaked greenbu l, Ludhers bush shrike Mountain black boubou, black headed waxbill, african crowned eagle , banded prinia, fine banded wood pecke r,great blue and black billed Turaco , and ar good species .
