Rwanda Ape trekking safaris & tours – Rwanda is a landlocked nation covering a total land mass of 26338km found in the great rift valley where African great lakes region and east Africa converge. It’s one of the smallest countries on the African mainland.
Volcanoes national park is located north western Rwanda which is approximately 120 kms from the main capital Kigali, the park is a home to 11 mountain gorilla families which are available for gorilla tracking.
The park is 160 km big sitting below the 5 volcanoes of Muhavura, Gahinga, sabyinyo, karisimbi and bisoke which is Rwanda’s highest peak is 4506 meter above sea level and the lowest 920 at the Ruzizi River.
The Nyungwe Forest is located in south western Rwanda, on the border with Burundi in the south and the Democratic republic of the Congo to the west. The Nyungwe rainforest is probably the best preserved montane rainforest in Central Africa.
Nyungwe Forest National Park was established in 2004 and covers an area of approximately 970 km2 of rain forest, bamboo, grassland, swamps and bogs.

Rwanda has two famous apes found in its two famous national parks namely Mountain gorillas found in Volcanoes national park and chimpanzee found in Nyungwe forest national park.

Rwanda Ape trekking safaris & tours – Gorillas are the largest living primates sub divided into four species found in Africa some of which the eastern gorillas, western gorillas, the cross river gorillas and the mountain gorillas.
The mountain gorilla habitant is always in the higher altitudes of Bwindi impenetrable national park and Mgahinga national park in Uganda, volcanoes national park in Rwanda and Virunga national park in Congo.
A mountain gorilla has fur often thicker and longer than that of other gorilla species which enables them to live in colder temperatures.
Chimpanzee.
Chimpanzee are the second largest living primate subdivided into four sub species found in Africa some of which include the eastern chimpanzee, the central chimpanzee, the Cameroon –Nigerian chimpanzee and west African chimpanzee.
Chimpanzee bodies are covered by coarse hair, except for the face fingers toes palms of the hands and soles of the feet. The lose more hair as they age and develop bald spots
Best time to visit Rwanda.
Rwanda is open for tourism all year round but the best months are June –August and December-February and the other months of March-May and September-November are rainy season but the it does not rain whole day so this can give clients time to visit the mountain gorillas all year round.
