It’s the primate capital of the world covering a total area of 759km in the tropical rain forest found in the western arm of the Great Rift Valley. It’s called aprimate capital of the world because it has atotal of 13 primates found in it with the chimpanzee being the main primate of attraction but not only does it have the primates but over 300 different tree species , several bird species with the green breasted pita being the most sought after.
Queen Elizabeth is one of the several savannah national park found in the western arm of the great rift valley. It covers a total area of 1983 km with several water bodies found in its enclosure. These are lake George and lake Edward connected by the Kazinga channel. Its also home to several mammals such as the elephants, topis, uganda kob , water bucks. Water based animals such as the hippos ,reptiles such as the Nile crocodiles, cats such lions, leopards, civets and most importantly in its southern sector it has the famous tree climbing lions. The park also has a gorge known as the kyambura gorge which is home the chimpanzee.

Volcanoes National Park is named after the chain of dormant volcanoes making up the Virunga Massif: Karisimbi – the highest at 4,507m, Bisoke with its verdant Crater Lake, Sabinyo, Gahinga and Muhavura.
It’s where endangered mountain gorillas through the mysterious intimacy of the rain forest and chattering of the rare Golden monkey are found.
After tracking of the Mountain gorillas, we head to Kigali the capital city of the republic of Rwanda. Here if time allows tourists are encouraged to visit the genocide memorial center where most of the remains of the victims of the famous 1994 genocide are buried.
