Gombe National Park was established in 1968, Gombe is the smallest national park in Tanzania and its known for hosting the primates called Chimpanzee and it’s the only national park in Tanzania where Chimpanzee Tracking can be enjoyed once traveling to Tanzania, with only 20 square miles (52 km2) of forest running along the hills of the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika.

Gombe is the smallest of all the Tanzania’s national parks: a fragile strip of chimpanzee habitat straddling the steep slopes and river valleys that hem in the sandy northern shore of Lake Tanganyika. Its chimpanzees – habituated to human visitors – were made famous by the pioneering work of Jane Goodall. The matriarch Fifi, the last surviving member of the original community – that was only three-years old when Goodall first set foot in Gombe – is still regularly seen by visitors.

Accessing Gombe national Park in Tanzania is impossible on road but can be accessed by Air or by Boat Cruise.
Gombe National Park is not accessed by Road due to the fact that it’s located in the rift valley, and the park can only be accessed by Water Transport as explained below.
The nearest town to Gombe national park is Kigoma, the remote areas near the park and it has an airstrip, Travelers from Arusha, Nyerere Airport can take a domestic flight to Kigoma airstrip from where they will take a 10 minutes boat to reach the lodge and enter the national park.
