Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park can be reached to by road transport or by Air transport depending on the visitor’s time interest and budget. The National Park is located 530km away from Kampala the capital city of Uganda the Pearl of Africa, and 576km from Entebbe International Airport. By road

 From Queen Elizabeth National Park via Kihihi to Buhoma (3-4 hours), Kampala through Mbarara town(9-10 hours), Kampala through Kabale-Kanungu-Buhoma(9-10 hours), Kampala-Ntungamo-Rukungiri-Kihihi-Buhoma (9-10 hours) and Kampala-Kabale-Nkuringo (10 hours).  A 4×4 vehicle is required for the journey because of the rains and mud along the way especially during the rain seasons.

If interested in taking the public local bus, you can board a bus from Kampala to the southern section of Bwindi National Park via Mbarara, Kabale to Kisoro town or from Kampala to the northern Bwindi via Mbarara, Ntungamo, Rukungiri, Kihihi to Butogota. In these public buses, visitors should be aware of thieves so keep your belongings safe near you all the time.

By Air

There are two options of flying to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, either from Entebbe International Airport or Kajansi Airfield near Kampala to Kisoro Airstrip for those tracking Mountain Gorillas in the southern sector of Rushaga and Nkuringo, and for those tracking Gorillas in the northern sector of Buhoma fly to Kihihi Airstrip.
