We do organize both road or driving safaris to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for Gorilla habituation experience or fly in safaris to the same National Park. As part of our services, we do book Gorilla habituation permits just as we do for Gorilla trekking permits. Once there is space, we will request you to provide all your passport details which are required before Uganda Wildlife Authority issues out your Gorilla habituation permits. We also book accommodation in Rushaga depending on your budget and interest while on your Uganda Gorilla Habituation Adventure.
Tourists going for Mountain Gorilla habituation are expected to report the National Park visitor’s center by 7:30 am in the morning for a short briefing about the whole process. While here, they are also told about the major safety procedures to follow while in the jungle to ensure a successful Gorilla Adventure and to get the best of the Mountain Gorilla habituation experience.
Kindly note that at the moment, gorilla habituation permits cost USD1500 per permit and it allows one to spend four hours with a group of Mountain Gorillas under habituation. Maximum numbers allowed per family is 4 people and each must be 15 years and above. The Mountain Gorilla habituation rules and regulations are similar to those of Mountain Gorilla trekking rules and they include the following;
Always following the ranger guide’s instructions
Keeping in the group to avoid getting lost
Not making a lot of noise in the forest and when in the presence of the Mountain Gorillas.
Keeping at least a distance of 7 meters away from the Mountain Gorillas
No imitating the Mountain Gorilla habits
No using flash photography while taking the Mountain Gorilla pictures
No going for the habituation experience while sick as you can easily pass on the disease to the Mountain Gorillas
It is as well also very wise for one to be in good physical shape because the Gorilla habituation experience is a whole day experience of following a Mountain Gorilla group through the forested mountains requiring the rangers and the tourists to keep up with the pace of the Mountain Gorillas. There are however porters for hire who can carry luggage or the tourist on a stretcher in case hired.
Persons who are 15 years and above are the only ones allowed going for the Mountain Gorilla habituation experience. Tourists going for this activity are recommended to book accommodation around the Rushaga sector to avoid any inconveniences when going to the National Park visitor’s center.
