Uganda safari in November – Like the month of April, November is the second month with more rains in Uganda. Less travellers visit Uganda for safaris this month because it is difficult to spot wildlife in the National parks and the muddy paths and thundershowers make Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park more challenging.
Because of the rains throughout October, Uganda’s vegetation starts to thrive in November. Dry plains become verdant and although this makes wildlife sightings more difficult the landscapes are stunning. As November is a low season in Uganda, price rates may be lower at this time. If you are not opposed to some arduous trekking and potential rain, it is possible to track the Mountain Gorillas at this time but please be aware this is not the optimum time to visit though this might change because of the climate changes experienced in Uganda.
November sees the start of the best bird watching season. November and April are months of migratory bird species to arrive in Uganda. Uganda is known for its huge variety of bird species so if this is something that you are particularly interested in, please contact Great Adventure Safaris and we will be able to point out some unique species and plan your Uganda safari in November with bird watching sessions.
Murchison Falls National Park is a year-round destination so a visit to see the powerful water fall of the Nile surging through a cleft in the rift valley is a great add on to your safari at this time of year. On a boat safari to the bottom of the Murchison falls you can witness Nile crocodiles, hippos, elephants and numerous bird species.
Uganda is big on adventures, from gorilla and chimpanzee tracking in misty rainforests and white-water rafting on the continent’s longest river to trekking in the highest mountain range in Africa.
The Western part of Uganda is the prime region for wildlife adventures as it is a home to the bulk of the country’s National parks and reserves where you can participate in Gorilla and Chimpanzee tracking, wildlife and boat safaris as well hiking the Rwenzori Mountains Uganda’s tallest range where the draws are adventurous hiking and climbing to the top of Mount Stanley, Africa’s third highest mountain.
The town of Jinja city, in Eastern Uganda, is on every adventure traveller’s itinerary. This is the adrenaline capital of East Africa, offering a smorgasbord of thrilling activities on the Nile River and in the surrounding area. White-water rafting on Grade V rapids tops the activity list, but there’s more adventurous fun to be had, whether it’s bungee-jumping from a riverside cliff or horse riding on the banks of the river. In the same region, mountaineers can tackle the ascent of Mount Elgon, Africa’s eighth tallest peak.
Adventurous travellers looking for a more off-the-beaten-track safari destination should head to Uganda’s far northern Karamoja region for Kidepo Valley National Park, the most remote reserve in the country. This rugged wilderness offers magnificent scenery and excellent wildlife viewing on open savannah.
