January – February
This is one of the warmest periods to go on holiday in Kenya it summer time that’s an excellent to for game viewing, both those in air and on ground. During this season there are large numbers of wildlife in the famous tourist destinations, like Lake Nakuru, Masai mara and Amboseli National parks. The landscape is green; temperatures are warm with little showers with beautiful long grass from the November to December. Is the best time to visit Kenya since at the cost the days are Sunny and hot.
March – April – May
In early march, the skies are still blue although the number of animals becomes scarce when the rainy season begins from late march to April and into May. Due to long rains of April and May most track and trails through the parks become impassable and the seacoast line is also very wet, and thus this might not be a good time to visit Kenya for safari.
June
This is when the country experiences the second dry season and the most rivers, lakes and water holes start to receive huge wildlife numbers again like elephants, buffalos among others – the rains reduce though a few little showers may fall and tend to be cool at the altitude.
This is when the grass has grown higher, making it difficult to see wildlife but it Is still a great time to visit Keya – you should be ready for the arrival of the annual wildebeest migration from the Serengeti plains into the Masai Mara as July comes.
July – August – September
This is a very long dry season and a very popular period to for on safari in Kenya. It is the best time to see the great wildebeest migration, gazelles and zebras in July, the weather is dry and here the Masai Mara receives the first herds of the wildebeest from Tanzania.
August is also the driest time with pleasant temperatures, fantastic game viewing, it is during this time you watch the wildebeest crossing the Talek and Mara river and nothing as breathtaking as watching the predators hunt for prey especially the wildebeest which can be very many. It is a great time to capture your camera though not for the faint hearted.
This is the peak season, all through September and wildlife viewing is at its best in all Kenya game reserves.
October – November
In October, a few rains are possible, but still it is a good time to travel especially for those that want to avoid the crowds, but wildlife viewing is still at its best.
In November short rains are received, game viewing is still enjoyable and other tourist activities. Most camps on the Laikipia plateau are close and however in Masai Mara and other parks, they are still open at this time.
December
As the year ends, the weather is potentially wet and hot. This is the good time for birders because the number of birds including the migratory birds is many. The landscape is cover with lush green grass hosting newly born animals. Also if you are traveling in this time ensure to carry insect repellants because mosquitoes are prevalent during this time.
