Buhoma sector has five habituated Mountain Gorilla families which are Habinyanja, Muyambi, Rushegura, Katwe and Mubare Gorilla families. Accessing Buhoma sector
Buhoma region is located in the Northern part of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Kanungu district. It can be accessed from Entebbe International Airport by air with daily scheduled flights which operate from Entebbe International Airport to Kihihi Airfield and if driving it will take you 8-9 hours on the road. Buhoma can also be accessed from Kigali-Rwanda and this makes the drive short with 4-5 hours driving from Kigali for those who wish to visit Buhoma Gorillas tracking sector when they fly to Kigali International Airport. Many tourists choose to fly from Entebbe International Airport to Kihihi Airfield which takes 1-2 hours and then drive to Buhoma for 2 hours.
