Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in the South-Western part of Uganda in the districts of Kabale, Kisoro and it is covered by a tropical rainforest and is a home to the Mountain Gorillas with more than half of the World’s remaining Gorillas. This National Park has four Gorilla tracking sectors which are Buhoma in the North, Ruhija in the East, Rushaga and Nkuringo sectors in the South. All these sectors have habituated Gorilla families for Gorilla tracking. Rushaga sector boost the highest number of habituated Gorilla families compared to any other sector in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The sector has Rwigi Gorilla family, Mucunguzi Gorilla family, Busingye Gorilla family, Kutu Gorilla family, Bweza Gorilla family, Mishaya Gorilla family, Nshongi Gorilla family, Bikingi Gorilla family these are all habituated and ready to be trekked. All the sectors combined boost up to 144 Gorilla permits available for tracking per day and with each Gorilla family allowing 8 pax for tracking per day.
Gorilla permits in Uganda are issued by Uganda Wildlife Authority and they are for first come first serve. The Gorilla permit price is USD700 per person per trek for one hour viewing of these giant apes in the jungle. Gorilla Habituation experience permits are also available for tracking and this permit allows you to spend 4 hours with the Gorillas at USD1500 per person which start counting when you find the fresh trails of the Gorillas from where they nested the previous night.
