Allocation of Gorilla Family to rack in Ruhija sector
The above are the mountain Gorilla that make up the whole ruhija sector of Bwindi impenetrable National Park as of now. Some time back, the allocation of Gorilla family to trek used to be based on the families and Gorilla permits were sold according to families but now things changed and Gorilla permits now are sold basing on sectors ie. Ruhija, Buhoma, Nkuringo and Rushaga. The allocation of the Gorilla family to track is done on the day of tracking at the starting point basing on the health, level of fitness and the interests of the visitor. You are given an opportunity to participate in the allocation of the families and some do ask for a long trek/walk, others a shorter one, family with baby Gorillas, Dominant silver back or many silver backs. You can even decide to ask for a family with many members as per your interests and level of fitness. Mind you Gorillas tracking is so strenuous and a minimum level of fitness is required, so physical exercise before you come for tracking is vital. Therefore, if you visit ruhija sector for Gorilla tracking there is a variety of choices and families to choose.
