Rushaga region in the southern part of Bwindi impenetrable National Park has the highest number of habituated gorilla families and open for trekking every day and one gorilla family for the habituation experience. Currently 9 gorilla families resides in Rushaga region of Bwindi impenetrable National Park, among these mountain gorilla families open for gorilla trekking include,  Nsongi group with 8 members,  Bweza with 11 members, Mishaya with 11 members, Kahunge with 18 members, Businge with 13 members, Muchunguzi with 7 members, Lwigi with 7 members, Kutu with 11 members and Bikingi group with 14 members for the habituation experience. This means when it comes to gorilla trekking in Bwindi, Rshaga region attracts more tourists as compared to other sectors.

Reasons why Rushaga gorilla permits are on high demand

Accessing Rushaga region of Bwindi impenetrable National Park is now very easy, from Kigali and Entebe/Kampala. The road from Kigali to Kisoro and Entebbe to Kisoro are well tarmacked making it easier to drive to this part of the country, and the murram road from Muko to rushaga is well maintained, ruhsga region is close to the katuna and chanika boarders with Rwanda, a 2-3 hours’ drive is enough for you to reach to Rushaga for gorilla trekking. Since the permit for Volcanoes in Rwanda are high, now tourists find it easy to cross over to Uganda and trek mountain gorillas in the Rushaga region.

Another reason why Rushaga gorilla permits are on a high demand is that many tourists are looking at Uganda as most feasible destination when it comes to gorilla trekking and even Rwanda tour operators are selling Uganda since gorilla in their country are not affordable and the nearest place is Rushaga region, there is now a stiff completion for Rushaga gorilla permits making them to be on a high demand. With the East African Visa, now tourists easily move from Rwanda to Uganda for gorilla trekking at only $100 per person for the Visa.

The gorilla family open for gorilla habituation experience is another reason for the high demand of Rushaga gorilla permits, the southern part of Bwindi is the only place where gorilla habituation experience takes place in Bwindi impenetrable National Park. The introduction of the gorilla habituation experience that gives tourists four hours in meters with the mountain gorillas’ and the four hours start to count when you meet the fresh trails of the gorillas, so now it’s better for the tourists to go gorilla habituation at $1500 for four hours than paying $1500 in Rwanda for one hour.
